How to Find Your IP Address on Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone

Your device has two kinds of IP address: a public one (what websites see) and a private one (used on your home network). Here is how to find each.

Find your public IP address

The fastest way on any device is to open our My IP page. It shows your public IPv4 or IPv6 address, ISP and approximate location with no setup. Your operating system's settings only show the private address.

Windows 10 and 11

  1. Press Win + R, type cmd and press Enter.
  2. Run ipconfig.
  3. Look for IPv4 Address under your active adapter (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).

You can also open Settings → Network & internet → Wi-Fi → your network → Properties.

macOS

  1. Open System Settings → Wi-Fi.
  2. Click Details next to your connected network.
  3. Open the TCP/IP tab to see the IP address.

In Terminal, ipconfig getifaddr en0 prints the Wi-Fi address on most MacBooks.

Linux

Run ip addr or hostname -I in a terminal to list the addresses assigned to your interfaces.

Android

  1. Open Settings → Network & internet → Wi-Fi (names vary slightly by manufacturer).
  2. Tap the connected network, then look for IP address. On some phones, tap Advanced first.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Settings → Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the (i) icon next to your network.
  3. Read the IP Address field.

On your router

Your router's admin page (often 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) lists the WAN IP your provider assigned. If it differs from what our tool shows, you may be behind carrier-grade NAT — see public vs private IP addresses.

Check any other IP address

Have an address from an email header, server log or firewall alert? Paste it into the IP lookup tool to see its ISP, location and network type.
